Lawrence Ellyard is an author of seven books; is the CEO of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists; the Master Instructor and Director of the International Institute for Reiki Training and a Certified Hado Instructor and Co-founder and Director of Hado Institute Australia.
Lawrence’s career in complementary therapies began in the early 90’s completing his formal training apprenticeship as a Reiki Instructor by early 1993. He later founded the International Institute for Reiki Training in 1996 (formally – The Australian Institute for Reiki Training). Following his extensive international teaching tours Lawrence began writing his first book titled: ‘The Tao of Reiki’ which was first published in 2001 in India selling over 10,000 copies and was later republished and updated under the title: ‘Reiki Healer’. This book was published in the United States through Lotus Press in 2004. Since this time Reiki Healer has continued to sell and has been translated into foreign languages including Russian.
Following the success of Reiki Healer, Lawrence had already commenced work on a new book titled: ‘Reiki Satsang - 200 Questions and Answers’ (self-published in 2004). Lawrence also completed a contemporary rendering on the Buddhist classical text – The Dhammapada which presents 423 sayings of the historical Buddha. This book was published in 2005 through his new UK publisher O Books which includes a foreword by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
In 2006 Lawrence completed another 2 books which were published together as a two volume set titled: ‘Reiki 200 Questions and Answers for Beginners’ (a revised edition of Reiki Satsang) and ‘The Ultimate Reiki Guide for Practitioners and Masters’. Now in second editions, both books are published through O Books publishing in the UK.
In addition to his Reiki and Buddhist works Lawrence also studied with Dr. Masaru Emoto, the author of ‘The Hidden Messages in Water’ in Hawaii in the year 2006 becoming a Certified IHM Hado Instructor. In the same year he co-founded Hado Institute Australia (HIA) and upon Dr. Masaru Emoto’s invitation during his Australian tour in 2006, Lawrence commenced writing a new book titled: ‘The Spirit of Water’ published in November 2007 through O Books publishing.
Lawrence continues to write and has also produced Guided Meditation CD’s including ‘Reiki Samadhi’ and ‘The Spirit of Water – Guided Meditations’.
Some of Lawrence’s forth coming titles include: Reiki Meditations for Beginners (out April 2008 – O Books); The Way of Spiritual Marketing; Medicine Buddha Reiki and other titles soon to be released.
In 2003 Lawrence founded the International Institute for Complementary Therapists, a professional body for the Natural Health field for Australian practitioners.
Lawrence’s other interests include the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism through Diamond Way Buddhism under the instruction of Lama Ole Nydahl and Lawrence has also studied under the late Venerable Namgyal Rinpoche since 1993.
Lawrence is an active member of the Spirit of the Earth Medicine Society (SOTEMS). He is a Ceremonial Leader, Sweat lodge facilitator and Minister within the society under the direction and mentorship of Dr. Rafael Locke, Medicine Chief of the society and the Director of IKON International Institute for Healing Arts and Sciences.
Lawrence’s hobbies include the practice of Aikido, Snow-boarding, Scuba-diving and Travel. Lawrence currently lives in Australia with his wife and son and continues to write books and articles. To contact Lawrence click here
